Shepherd's Christian Academy

Shepherd's was founded to educate the children of Christian parents.  The school does not replace the home or the church.  The three should be complimentary, which means that home, school, and the church should be in agreement with the biblical philosophy and teaching.

God's hand and His people's vision created Shepherd's Christian Academy, a ministry of Sun Coast Baptist Church.  God assembled a dedicated administrative and teaching staff with the highest credentials and qualifications found in the area's Christian school community.  Each member of the faculty and staff consider this a personal and professional ministry in which we have been placed by God to serve Him.

It is our mission to provide a Bible-based, high quality education to Christian families.  We serve as a means of preparing children for the achievement of their highest academic, social, spiritual and physical potential.

Curriculum

We currently use the A Beka curriculum in most subjects.

Subjects taught are Bible (which include Bible stories, principles and character development, memorization, and weekly chapel services), language arts (which include developmentally appropriate skills in listening, speaking, reading, including phonics and comprehension, literature, handwriting, spelling, and creative and report writing), mathematics, science, social studies, music, art, physical education, library, and computer skills. Relevant field trips, guest speakers, media presentations, and computer software applications extend the curriculum.
